We spent a long time searching for the right vegetable-tanned leather for our Granny Boots. We wanted a material that would accentuate their shape without looking overly uniform or flawless. And we found it.
Vegetable tanning preserves the leather’s natural texture and its ability to evolve. Over time, it softens and develops a deeper hue and a rich patina, while every crease and sign of wear gradually becomes part of the boots' character. This quality is particularly striking on the tall Granny Boots — and that is exactly the effect we were aiming for.
The leather is sensitive to moisture: getting wet can alter its shade, causing it to gradually lighten as it dries. We consciously embraced the material’s tendency to be varied and dynamic. Because, to us, Granny Boots should be exactly that — not flawless, but alive.
